Week 8 - Concluding the Proseminar
Final Week of the Proseminar
This
course helped me gauge the scope of the curriculum that lies ahead. By reviewing
the contents of the coursework, I now have a better understanding of what will
be expected of me. I also found a lot of the resources extremely useful for
understanding how to be a better computer scientist.
Working on video projects
made me realize that this course has helped me think about how to work in
groups. It exposed my weaknesses, but also highlighted my strengths and I was
able to understand myself more from the perspective of working on a team.
This class has shown also me the value of
having an agenda for group meetings to ensure structured discussions, and I
regret not implementing one this semester, as it would have encouraged more
equal participation and planning. Another topic covered in the course was the
idea of designating a leadership role for each project. I also see assigning
such a role as essential for ensuring balanced participation among team
members.
I truly appreciate the
material presented by my professors in the computer science proseminar course,
as it has been genuinely valuable. I was pleasantly surprised to witness
personal growth.
Reviewing Other Teams’ Projects
JMMD Technology Video Review:
These videos had relevant
slides that had a personalized and comedic feel to them. The speakers had clear
voices. The teamwork effort was evident from the collaboration of the many
members. I was also able to understand what virtualization is. I think the kids’
video also provided good illustrations of what virtualization is and I think they
could have used it for this video as well. The video for young viewers was
easier to follow. It explained virtualization in very simple terms, and it had relevant
slides. It also added a comedic effect which I think works well with young
listeners. The quality of the research was clearly shown. It was a pleasure to
watch.
TerraBit Solutions Professional Video Review:
This video did a great job of stitching relevant clips
together to make it pleasant on the eye while the viewer listens to the speaker.
The use of an artificial voice was a nice change-up. It wasn’t easy to identify
the teamwork on this video, but the quality was good regardless. I was able to
follow the script easily. I followed the explanation of quantum computing then transitioned
to the applications and dangers. I think these videos did a good job of
explaining quantum computing to young viewers.
ByteBoost Professional Video Review:
ByteBoost has very good speakers. I was impressed by
the spacing in their speech. The visuals are also very good, and I liked the balance
between slides and relevant videos. The titles made it easy to follow. I was
able to understand the differences between different biometrics along with the
security risks and even the accuracy. The teamwork was evident. For the children’s
video, I like how they decided to focus more on video footage rather than detailed
slides so that they can keep the attention of younger viewers.
